2009 Research Portfolio
EPRI’s 2009 Research Portfolio showcases our proposed research and development programs for 2009 to help the electricity sector address a broad scope of technological, operational and environmental issues, including:
- Near-Term — Increase the reliability of nuclear fuel, substations, boilers and other essential components; reduce costs along the energy value chain; extend equipment life; enhance environmental performance.
- Mid-Term — Introduce advanced technologies to reduce greenhouse emissions; create a smart power grid that accommodates intermittent renewables, distributed generation, demand response, and efficient end-use technologies such as plug-in hybrids.
- Long-Term — Develop advanced nuclear plants and clean coal technologies with CO2 capture and storage and infrastructure for a hydrogen economy.
